Advanced Technology

To help improve your experience as a patient, we equip our office with state-of-the-art technology. Not only can advancements in dental technology save you time and keep you comfortable, but they can also help give you the smile of your dreams. Let us show you how these advancements can completely change the way you think about going to the dentist.

Digital X-rays

Digital X-Ray technology at Victoria Dentistry in Victoria TX

The days of heavy lead aprons, sharp X-ray film, and loud machinery are a thing of the past! We now use digital X-rays, which are not only more comfortable and accurate than conventional X-rays, but also faster and better for the environment too. With no sharp X-ray film and no lengthy chemical processing required, the images are available on our computer screen within seconds. Digital X-rays are safe enough to be used during pregnancy, and some studies have found that they emit up to 90% less radiation than conventional x-rays.

We use digital X-rays in dental exams of patients of all ages, because many problems with the teeth and surrounding tissues cannot be seen by the naked eye. X-rays can reveal:

  • Small areas of decay between teeth
  • Decay below existing restorations
  • Deep cavities
  • Infections in the jaw bones
  • Gum disease
  • Abscesses or cysts
  • Developmental abnormalities
  • Some types of tumors

Intraoral Camera

Like digital X-rays, digital photographs with our intraoral camera are a useful diagnostic and patient education tool. This camera shows you what we see during your exam and helps Dr. Scraver guide you through your diagnosis and treatment options.

It also allows our team to visualize more and diagnose issues we might not have been able to see without the up-close view that it gives us.

DIAGNOdent®

Victoria TX dentist | DIAGNOdent Technology

Diagnodent® laser technology precisely detects tooth decay in its early stages, many times before it can be recognized by other means. Fillings for cavities that are caught sooner can often be smaller, which allows us to use minimally invasive filling techniques and preserve more of your natural tooth. Additionally, the low intensity Diagnodent laser enables us to monitor areas of concern without repeated X-rays.

Arestin®

Have you been told that you have or are at risk of developing gum disease? Ask us about Arestin®, an antibiotic powder that can stop the infection right where it starts. After your deep cleaning, Dr. Scraver simply applies Arestin to the small space between your tooth and gum tissue (known as the “perio-pocket”). Arestin stays in place for up to three weeks to clear gum infection to a level that can be managed with routine dental cleanings.
